"random9q" my online handle. I'm Qenin Modnar. If you've not guessed already -- that name is "randoM nineQ" spelled backwards, and I use it as the "real name" name of random9q within the likes of Facebook and Google+. Random Nine.Q is just a little too trippy for some autocensorbots to cope with. This is all a consensual illusion necessary to keep the Day Job from locating me online, the usual "the opinions expressed here do not necessarily reflect those of my employer" will not do for ... technical reasons, we'll call them. Or, if they've located me and just haven't said so, it gives both I and my Day Job a degree of mutually assured plausible deniability. The handle has been around since 1997 and was a mere lengthening of "random9" which was my handle since about 1990. I'm remarkably consistent in this regard for someone using "random" as a pen name. It is, in a sense then, one of my real names.

Aside from establishing semi circuitous references, what do I do?

Mainly, I create things. Diverse things.

By formal training, I'm primarilly Computer Scientist, somewhat electronic music composer, one time stage technician. By informal training I also make whatever artwork makes me happy to make, game, and write. I also observe systems of things, their inner workings, their interrelations, interdependencies. I'm also routinely plagued with the impulse to remind the general public that thinking is good, healthy, and better done more often.

That's not all I do, perhaps not even close, but that's a really good start.

Lately, I seem to be trying to clean up my act to make more room for creating. On the whole I'd say this is a good move.
